What is the TEAS Test?

The TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) is an entrance exam that measures entry-level skills in four subject areas identified as important for health science students: reading, mathematics, science, and English/language usage.  All nursing and radiography program applicants are required to take the TEAS Test. The TEAS Test is a timed, computerized exam made up of multiple-choice questions in four sections. Details about the TEAS Test, including the number of types of questions on the exam can be found on the ATI's website

Prior to taking the TEAS TEST

  • Complete a BIO course prior to taking the TEAS Test.
  • Use PrepSTEP to prepare.
    • Click on 'Career Preparation' and scroll down to 'Prepare for Nursing Exams'
  • Focus your studies on topics at which you are weakest.  Example: grammar and punctuation

How do I register to take the TEAS Test at RCC?

To register for the ATI TEAS exam, please contact the RCC Admissions Department (Bldg 13) @ 272-3336.

Before exam day:  (1) log on to www.atitesting.com and create a username and password; and (2) do a test-run to prepare for test day.  Watch this video for more instructions.

Information about the exam itself:

  • The exam costs $70.00, payable by debit or credit card on the day of your exam
  • Admissions will send you and ID number approximately 15 minutes prior to the start of the test
  • Your session will be proctored through remote monitoring
